Meet our Prinicpals | Office Staff

Dr. Miller's focus is to listen, learn, and work collaboratively towards our agreed-upon goals and desired outcomes for our school and community. In July, the National Association of Elementary School Principals recognized Dr. Heidi Miller as the National Outstanding Assistant Principal(NAESP) for 2022. This was followed by her recognition in February by the Minnesota Elementary School Principals Association(MESPA) as the MN Outstanding Assistant Principal for 2022. She has served in the Anoka Hennepin School District as an assistant principal, and is a 2014 graduate of Bethel University, where she earned her doctorate in educational administration and her master's degree in literacy education. In addition to  being an early literacy expert, she is also a published author, educational speaker, presenter, and board member of the Twin Cities Area Reading Council.

Her motto:  'What is best for students?  What is best for staff?  What is best for Hassan?' demonstrates a leader continuously reaching for the best version that we can be. She believes school to be a place where students and staff look forward to going to each morning, where we are a FAMILY! Her open door policy will always be to meet the needs of the family and community leaders of Rogers, so please call anytime to speak about your hopes for Hassan.

With a new school year comes new opportunities, and we look forward to her leadership towards another successful school year.

Nicole Johnston has dedicated her career to ISD 728 since 2011. During her first 13 years in the district she proudly served as an Elementary School Social Worker. Nicole now takes on a new opportunity as she joins the administrative team at Hassan Elementary School. As a member of the community and former Hassan parent, Nicole is dedicated and committed to our students, families and staff. 

During Nicole's career she has played an integral role in supporting our students through social, emotional and behavioral challenges and learning opportunities. She has helped create a safe space for parents to learn and grow with their children. In addition, Nicole has become a CATALYST Coach to help support and coach our teachers in their classrooms. It is Nicole's philosophy to work together and lead with her heart through empowerment and celebration of all humans...little to big! While Nicole's undergraduate work through Saint Cloud State University was focused on Social Work, her double Master's Degrees through Saint Mary's University are specialized to the field of Education.

Nicole brings knowledge, excitement and a love for children. She cannot wait to welcome each of you to Hassan Elementary School. Nicole lives within our community with her husband and three children. During her free time you can find her in her garden, hanging out with her backyard chickens or cheering her kids on at their swimming meets, basketball and soccer games. She welcomes you to come say hello and cannot wait to meet you and your family!
