Hassan PTO Summer Reading Challenge: Appetite for Reading!

Get ready for a summer full of books, fun, and prizes! The Hassan PTO Summer Reading Challenge runs from June 8th through August 21st and encourages students to keep reading all summer long.


Summer is  HERE! --bringing sunshine, adventure, and endless opportunities for fun. Since school is out, it is important to keep young minds engaged, and what better way than through the joy of reading?
That is why the Hassan PTO is thrilled to announce our Summer Reading Challenge! With exciting incentives and plenty of encouragement, we hope to make reading a fun and rewarding part of your child’s summer.

How It Works:

  • The Summer Reading Challenge runs from June 8 through August 21.
  • Each time your child reads for 20 minutes, they should color in one pizza slice on their tracking sheet.
  • Prizes will be awarded at key milestones: 200, 400, 600, 800, and 1,000 minutes.

Summer Prize Pick-Up:

  • Prize pick-ups will be held at Culver’s, making it easy and fun for families to celebrate their readers’ achievements.
  • Dates and times for prize pick-up will be posted on the Hassan PTO Facebook page. Please follow us for updates and reminders.
  • Bring your child’s completed tracking sheet with you to Culver’s
  • Upon arrival, scan the QR code and complete the form for the prize level your child is claiming (for example: 200 or 400 minutes).
  • Students will then receive their prize.

Fall Prize Pick-Up:

  • Can’t make it over the summer? No worries.
  • Once school is back in session, parents can scan the QR code and select “No” when asked if prizes were picked up over the summer.
  • Complete the form with your child’s reading milestone (total minutes read) and send the tracker to school by Friday, September 4.
  • Prizes will be delivered to classrooms and sent home in late September or early October.
